SA punished for being open, honest

South Africa advising the world of the new Covid variant must surely make a statement that we have something to offer in the battle against the Covid pandemic.

The variant omicron will not be unique to South Africa, since the whole world is using the same vaccine and it stands to reason that this new variant will also claim victims in other parts of the world.

By being honest and open on this subject we get repaid by having sanctions imposed, including travel bans which, in these tough economic times, are crippling the country’s economy.

Maybe we should have just kept quiet on the subject along with America, Great Britain and most of Europe.
